Telling Others About Your Dream

Three benefits of telling others about your dream:
  1. It gets you started. Once you’ve announced it, you’re accountable to try and get moving.
  2. It attracts other people’s support. The moment I stated my dream, other people wanted to get in on it. A dream from God will attract people that you don’t even know yet to help you.
  3. It releases God’s power. Because of your faith, you step out of the boat and start walking on water. God will hold you up!

Growing Your Faith in Six Phases

Faith is like a muscle — it develops. It can be strengthened or it can grow weak, depending on how much you use it. So how does God build your faith? He uses a very predictable process. If you understand it, you can cooperate with it.

First, God gives you a dream for your life. Then, you have to make a decision about it. The third stage is delay, where you wait for God to work in his time. The next stage is difficulty, where God tests you. Then, you might reach a dead end, which will make you want to give up. But, in the end, God always brings you to deliverance, the final stage of his six phases of faith.

How To Trust God for Your Big Dream

If you want to make it in a career, you have to show audacity. Audacity is the courage to think big, to show initiative, and to take risks for a dream while facing the possibility of failure.

Be of Love

The Bible says, “Do everything with love” (1 Corinthians 16:14 NLT, second edition). “Do everything” — that means in the office, in the car, on a sales trip — whatever. The good news is this really is not hard. It’s easy to underestimate the power of a kind word, a friendly smile, a pat on the back, a genuine compliment, a word of encouragement, and a listening ear.

People need affirmation, attention, and affection. Learn to care about the people you work with and show them God’s love.

“Be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love” (Ephesians 4:2 TLB).

Develop Your Character

Do you have a boss who drives you nuts? Think about this. God can use a boss who tests your patience, and he can use a workplace that you’re unhappy in to develop and grow your character. He plants seeds of love, joy, peace, and patience in your heart, and then he fertilizes those seeds while you work.

The answer is character. Life is preparation for eternity. You’re not going to take your career with you to Heaven, but you are going to take your character. And while you are here on Earth, God is developing your character and testing your faithfulness. Will you be faithful to do the right thing, even when you don’t feel like doing the right thing? He’s watching so that he can determine what kind of job he is going to give you in eternity.

Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much .…  If you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches? And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else’s property, who will give you property of your own?” (Luke 16:10-12 NIV)
