New Years Service
Judges 8:4-14, 28
"I am exhausted, but still not done"
-be careful how you judge people on the place they are in, because you don't know what God may call them to do. (Gideon was a drunk called by God to lead the Israelites)
-Gideon and his men got to the Jordan River and they were exhausted, frustrated...tired.
-you can get to a new chapter and be tired...exhausted...you are at the end of 2015 and you are exhausted.
-you have some trouble, problems, sickness..loneliness in the new year. Life doesn't stop.
-Gideon was exhausted but still in pursuit
3 ways to keep going:
1. You've got to complete past projects
- we've got to move from where we are to handle some things in our past in order to not jeopardize our peace in the future
- the delusion of the devil is that tomorrow morning your life will be different "New Year, New Me"
- until you handle some of the mess in your yesterday you can not move into tomorrow
2. Separate from problematic people
- too many people are paralyzed by rejection especially when it's people that you think should except you or help you out
- Gideon kept on going even when his own people wouldn't support him
- you don't need everybody you think you need to be successful. If God has called you and God has called you, you don't need everybody
- everybody you want isn't ordained to be in your life. Some people are poison for what God has called you to do
- The Lord is trying to open your eyes. You may love them but they are not ordained for you
3. Reflect on my precious provisions
-remember what the Lord has already done
- you ought to have 3 files on God: the miracles he did for you, the grace he had for you, and the mercy he showed you
Happy New Year!
